1. What is HD-Surfaces?
HD-Surfaces is a company that specializes in producing and presenting high resolution imaging solutions for today's marketplace.
WEB IMAGES
Our software intelligently converts any image
for incremental access. The universally supported Adobe Flash Player is then able to display any view of the
image close or far, left or right, up or down without delivering any unneeded,
non-displayed image data.
Through the synergy of high resolution digital photography and sophisticated software techniques we can produce interactive HD images (with the ability to pan and zoom within the image) that retain their superior quality AND
simultaneously allow for instant streaming.
PRINT IMAGES
Our print images offer the highest quality product image available of your material that can be used for all print mediums. Our HD images are between 300 - 1000 DPI (depending on your preference) and can be used for everything from creating a HD sample/swatch book of your entire product line to fit into a salesman's brief case to printing magazine ads or massively large trade show banners.

2. For what purpose would I use this technology?
Our images are presented to the user in full HD resolution without requiring that the user download this usually massive file. We can transform your ordinary product sample images into the most visually-appealing, decision-prompting sales tools available.
HD-Surfaces will create high-quality images that zoom-and-pan for fast interactive viewing on the web.
Engage your customers with true-to-life representations of your products. These images are of the quality that will answer any questions your customers may have about the attributes of your products (texture, color, finish, etc.). Wherever a user zooms and pans, the pieces are then loaded on-demand, so that their view is always sharp and clear.

3. What steps are involved in the imaging process?
The process takes very little effort on your part. All that you must do is ship us some of your sample material and we will take care of the rest. So as no damage will occur, be sure to pack the materials securely and with sufficient cushioning.
Once we receive your sample material, it will be professionally photographed in our studio to achieve the most desirable presentation.
Next, various software tools are used to process the high definition images of your samples into an interactive, Adobe Flash-based presentation.
Specifically, the high definition image is dissected into many pieces or 'tiles' - as in a mosaic. This dissection is performed on many versions of the image, each at a different resolution or size. The result is a pyramid of tiles which a user can navigate within, to view any part of the image at any level of zoom.
These pieces are actually created for views of the image at many different resolutions or levels of zoom. Furthermore, the user experiences a very short load time because the pieces of the full HD image are downloaded on-demand. In this way, each time that a user clicks on an area of the image, a higher resolution piece is presented.
No special server or client software is needed to incorporate this HD imaging solution on your site. The final HD-Surfaces product uses just HTML, JPEG's, and a tiny Flash movie that serves as the 'viewer.'
The beauty of our delivery method is that your current web site will not have to undergo drastic alterations to its design; the presentation is completely self-contained and can easily replace any static image on your site.
With only a small amount of initial effort on your part, HD-Surfaces can provide your business with high-quality images that zoom-and-pan for fast, interactive viewing on the web.

5. What is the final format/size of my images?
All images are downloadable in the following formats:
1. Web Optimized:
Optimized with lossless compression for display as an interactive Adobe Flash movie (a .SWF file). The presentation package for each sample of your product is delivered as a self-contained folder approximately 2MB in size. This folder contains all the components needed to display your product in HD (High Definition) on the web.
2.
Full Resolution* Originals:
Full resolution TIFF images that are suitable for print and archival purposes. Other formats, PSD, PNG, or JPG are available upon request. The original image will be approximately 60MB in size and 4368x2912 in pixels; these specifications will vary depending on image cropping and the size of the product being photographed.
*Your full resolution images can be used in print advertising/brochures, etc. and are good enough to be printed several feet across.
A note on File Size:
The size of the original image is typically 50-75MB (extremely large because of the high resolution in which it is photographed), however, after software processing, the end result is a file/folder of only about 2MB.
To illustrate, the sample images on our web site average approximately 2MB in size, while retaining their high quality and detail. This method puts minimal strain on our storage space and bandwidth usage; you can expect to experience the same results.

Simply, NO! Our staff can handle the background technical details of incorporating HD versions of your samples (or work with your current IT/Web Developer furnishing them with everything needed). To publish the HD-Surfaces presentation of your product, we simply copy the SWF, the HTML file, and the product Image folder to your Web server. Thats it!
We will upload the new HD images; there is never any downtime on the web site We can also create new thumbnails for each product, as well as provide the original images for print (for brochures, trade show/large banners, magazine ads, creating a realistic product sample book, etc.)
** If you do not have a current IT/Web Developer and would like us to modify your web site when installing the pictures, we can do this at a standard (very competitive) web design rate of $80.00 per hour.
